Receptor sites are made by these different techniques:
- In the hairline area they are created using the titanium needles (by depth controlled technique). These receptor sites can accept only single hairs.
- In the area behind the hairline, depth controlled titanium micro punches are used to create a receptor site that can accept two- or three-hair follicular units.
- In the thinning area, special micro needles are used to avoid damage to the existing hair.
- In special circumstances, especially people on blood thinning medication or have bleeding tendencies like hemophilia, lasers are used to create the sites.
